Sheffield Fans Derby become National Fundraising Inspiration

Following the success of the Sheffield Fans Derby Sport Relief have decided to use the event as a fundraising idea for people to support Sport Relief 2010. It is featured on the national website under the main fundraising ideas category “The Rivals”, a brand new feature on the website. The story can be found in full by following this link "The Rivals, Fundraising, SFD"

Having raised over £4000 over the four games in the last two years it is a great boost to be recognised like this. We provided the details to Sports Relief and they produced their own article. In brief the Sheffield Fans Derby started in April 2008 when Iain Atkins and Jon Rowbotham got together a group of lads for a football game for Sport Relief raising £273.10. Since then it has gone from strength to strength raising over £770 for Bluebell Wood, over £2180 for Cavendish Cancer Care and over £800 for Help the Heroes. Please look around our website for more information.

We are now planning the first game of 2010 so watch this space. We are also looking for sponsorship for the event so please contact us if you would like to help.
